Additional recent thought:

It's not just the end state that matters, but also how to get there from the present system in place. One of the easiest things to do I think is to keep child benefit non means tested and to fold some other child related benefits into child benefit, eg in Germany the allowance paid to parents for taking time off work in the first year after a child's birth.

I am supporting the Pirate Party

I do not have an enormous readership, but I think it is international and not necessarily familiar with the pirate party. The name itself is something that requires explaining. Those benefiting from our archaic and inappropriate intellectual property laws have frequently used the word. For them it is meant to show that their opponents are communists, thieves or worse. The pirate parties have decided to rebrand the word.

The naming of the parties is to convey that the true abusers of the system are largely those extracting rents, not those refusing to pay.
